First, we need to understand these 3 basic simple machines:
Lever - A straight board or bar that rests on a pivot point, also called a fulcrum. A lever is used to move an object of a certain weight, called the load. The closer the object is to the fulcrum, the easier it is to move.
Wheel & Axle – A wheel is a circular disc, and the axle is a rod that runs through the center of that disc, allowing the wheel to rotate freely around the axle. A wheel and axle helps move a load.
Inclined Plane – A flat surface that is raised at one end, used to move a load from a lower position to a higher position.
